Multiple crews were called to an early morning fire in Forest Park where a mobile home went up in flames. KOCO 5 spoke with the family who watched their home burn.

A grandmother who lives on the property said she woke up early in the morning to feed her chickens when she looked up and saw smoke billowing from her nephew’s trailer.

"When they first got here, there was a lot of fire in the center of the structure and they attacked that really fast and hard," said Jenny Do.

Do said she was terrified, not knowing if her cousin was trapped inside.

"Scary. I didn't know what was going on," Do said.

The family said he was at work at the time.

"We're still looking for a couple animals in the house," said Chuck Blair, emergency manager for Forest Park.

Crews on the scene told KOCO 5 that mobile homes are more difficult to put out, so this firefight took them hours.

"They're made of predominantly very flammable materials. It's a small container, contains a lot of heat. It's hard for the heat to disburse. In some respects, they're much harder to put out," Blair said.

Firefighters said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Even though there was lightning from the storms, they don’t think that’s what caused the fire.
